OUR STORY

My name is Musoke Jafari. I am twenty-four years old Christian, born in Uganda, Africa.  Being an orphan myself along with my sister (Namubiru Hellen), is the main reason I started Godly Care Child International.

Before all this happened, there was a war in my country, due to political matters. Many people, especially children were affected.  Many lost their parents due to war. I lost my grandfather and aunt during the war, leaving my mother  to raise not only my sister and I, but her sisters children. My mother struggled to raise us. We lived in a small house my mother built, using mud and tree branches. My mother loved children so much she decided to help some of the orphans whom she found sleeping in the bush and alone without any shelter or food to eat. By then my mother could plant food just to feed us and when we got sick, she would give us herbal medicine. She could not afford the hospital.

When I was fifteen years old, my mother got very ill and passed away.  We were left alone me, my sister and the other eighteen children my mother was taking care of. Life was so hard for us and the house was almost falling to the ground. Fortunately we were rescued by the missionaries who had come to our village. I was taken with my sister to the missionary church and we managed to go to school.  After the missionaries left and returned to their home countries, we were left by some care takers who took over the responsibility of looking after the orphans.

Years went by and I decided to look for a job to look after my little sister. At the orphanage they taught us some skills. I learned about mechanics because I loved repairing cars.  At the age of sixteen I got a job at a certain garage. Not forgetting my mother’s heart and where I came from, I decided to continue my mother’s legacy. She taught me how to be a good person and to always help those in need if I could. My mother also taught me the most amazing thing and that was to pray, love and serve the Lord our God with all my heart and to always be true in everything I do. With that good spirit planted in me by my mother, I decided to go back to my home area and help the poor children who are suffering and to bring a change in their lives. I could give them only some little food, clothes but no shelter since the land we left back for them was taken away by some villagers and I could not recover it since I had no document yet I wanted to offer the thirteen orphans some shelter.

God helped me and sent me a good and kind hearted man who gave me and the children a simple house to rent. The small amount I could get from my job at the garage I was able to feed these children, but the number of orphans increased and now there are 38 orphans.  Looking after them by myself was getting very difficult. I started to ask for sponsors and volunteers who could help me with children. We registered my ministry so that these children could get sponsored and have an opportunity to get an education, and help with the basic necessities every child needs.

Our ultimate goal is to be able to buy our own land one day, grow crops, raise livestock, and eventually become more self-sustaining. Continue educating the children, giving them a chance at a brighter future.

HOW TO HELP

 SPONSOR A CHILD

Most children in Uganda are not given the opportunity for an education.  Without an education it is almost impossible to get any sort of job in this country.  Our Organization believes in order for change to take place, we must be proactive and educate the youth.  Giving them the opportunity to see a  brighter future and possibility in obtaing their dreams.
